As I was browsing the internet I came across two interesting parallel, independent but related articles,
1.Legalize prostitution if you can’t curb it: SC to govt (Published in the Times of India)
2.Marriage versus prostitution (Blogged by Rahul Verma, a men’s rights activist)
Article #1 talks about the Supreme Court observing that,
“When you say it is the world’s oldest profession and when you are not able to curb it by laws, why don’t you legalize it? You can then monitor the trade, rehabilitate and provide medical aid to those involved,” Justices Dalveer Bhandari and AK Patnaik told Solicitor-General Gopal Subramaniam.
Whilst article #2 talks about the similarities between marriage and prostitution and also carries an analytical comparison of the two and the final outcome is that, the current context, prostitution outperforms marriage for men.
